The Fighter Documentary at the One World Awards in London
The Fighter is a documentary realised by Dara Kell and Christopher Nizza for the Children Win campaign. It tells the story of Naomy, 12 years old girl, living in Vila Autodromo, where everything she loves is being ripped apart to make way for the 2016 Olympic Park. Today, her community is being forcibly removed and the houses torn down in preparation of the Rio Olympic Games 2016. Only few families are still leaving there and have found themselves trapped inside the Olympic Park.
The Fighter has been selected for the One World Awards under the “Short Film” category. This festival has the aim to highlight the significant work of journalists and filmmakers in uncovering under-reported stories and looking at familiar stories in new ways. The final three nominees will be announced in late April, and the winners at the Awards ceremony in June.
